Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Laboratory Assistant (OBGYN/IVF).

 Under supervision of the Program Manager for Cryopreservation or designee performs administrative and support tasks requiring knowledge and understanding of embryology processes Primary responsibility for handling admin and technical functions of transport of tissue in and out of the fertility Center and will involve manual processes related to packing of tissue Technical functions include accessing tanks with cryopreserved specimens in specialized environment

Job Responsibilities:

Directly responsible for; including but not limited to the tasks listed below

1. Handling coordinating and tracking shipments of cryopreserved tissue eggs embryos sperm into and out of the NYU FC per SOPs
   • Direct Interaction with patients to clarify their intent obtain nbsp;applicable consents and explain details
   • Direct interaction with patients and outside facilities to obtain relevant lab records
   • Contacts and works with other facilities and couriers to schedule shipments
   • Monitoring of shipments to ensure receipt / delivery when expected
   • May directly access specimens as a spotter/ confirmer for transport nbsp;
   • Accurate and timely updating of records in EMR and scheduling log
   • Provides Manger with support related to incoming calls as a first line of information on transports
   • Communicates clearly and consistently on follow ups and directives from Manager
   • Strict adherence to current policies and procedures as documented
   • Technical functions include accessing tanks and specimens in specialized environment nbsp;
   • Performs procedures requiring exposure to Liquid Nitrogen nbsp;
2. Performs other duties as assigned in times of high volume nbsp; inspections or as identified by leadership

Quality Control

1. Report malfunctions to senior personnel promptly
2. Follow departmental procedures and instructions
3. Adhere to universal precautions for bloodborne pathogens and in accordance with procedures developed by the Program management
4. Verify status of patient consent compliance related to Cryoinventory procedures

1. Seek information and ask for assistance from senior personnel when necessary regarding difficult or questionable situations
2. Report untoward result or incident to senior personnel and prepare documentation as requested

1. Adhere to School of Medicine and Departmental guidelines concerning rules of conduct safety security and patient confidentiality etc
2. Maintain a professional appearance; wears identification badge at all times
3. Must be able to perform lifting of 20 40 pounds cryo shipping container

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Minimum of 1 Year related experience in a fertility lab setting or the equivalent combination of education and experience Must be detail oriented and follow instructions strictly Effective Oral written communication and interpersonal skills Computer Skills Working knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office Word Excel set up routine computer procedures; email calendars and medical records data entry for EPIC and FERT fertility center custom medical record scanning documents and set up webexes Knowledge of standard office practices Ability to use standard office equipment

Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications: Associates or Bachelors degree degree in a related field with 1 2 years of experience in a lab admin position Technical lab knowledge regarding safe and secure practices

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $33,141.95 - $53,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
