Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Participant Retention Specialist, Required Bilingual Spanish - Brooklyn.

The Participant Retention Specialist is tasked with overseeing and directing retention of program participants in grant-funded behavioral health programs. The Grant Retention Specialist will facilitate and oversee participant retention in grant-funded programs via the coordination of point-of-care services, identification of barriers to program involvement, and logistic coordination of program resources in order to address the needs of program participants with complex behavioral health, substance use, and/ or co-occurring medical and psychiatric service needs.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee program participant point-of-care services and testing in order to facilitate and streamline program participation, including identifying barriers to point-of-care services and program retention such as: language and literacy barriers, lack of insurance, scheduling conflicts, etc.
  • Perform other grant-related tasks as assigned or volunteered in alignment with grant funded programs goals, objectives, and outcomes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or volunteered in alignment with medical center mission, goals and values.
  • Attend trainings and/ or webinars related to behavioral health, HIV, substance use, medical care, and/ or participant retention as necessary or assigned.
  • Prepare for and participate in any individual and/ or team meetings/ supervision as required by the department or grant programs.
  • Maintain electronic records and compile statistical data in accordance with grant requirements and departmental guidelines. Complete retention documentation and research data entry within required time frames.
  • Engage in retention coordination efforts in the office and via home/ community visits.
  • Oversee participant access to required benefits, entitlements, and any other identified needs that impact participant retention and use of grant-supported program services.
  • Coordinate patient access to grant-funded program deliverables in order to improve and maintain participant retention in grant-funded programs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • To qualify you must have a Bachelor's degree.
  • Previous care navigation experience is required.
  • Computer, telephone, fax machine, and photocopy machine skills are required.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is required. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BA in social service or medical care fields.
  • Experience working with patients who are diagnosed with mental health, substance abuse, and/or chronic health conditions, such as HIV.
  • Prior experience completing research assessments and informed consent processes.
  • Previous experience with CQI processes.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $62,400.00 - $66,144.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
