Position Summary
The College of Arts & Science is seeking a dedicated Associate Director, Academic Support. The Associate Director leads college-wide efforts to coordinate and implement comprehensive support programs for students facing academic difficulty who may be at risk of not retaining, persisting, or graduating from the College of Arts and Science (CAS). This includes the leadership CAS : Back on Track Program, a one-credit course for students facing academic difficulty taught by adjunct faculty. Provide staff from across the College with recommendations, guidance, and best practices to enhance their efforts to support students with academic performance concerns. Drive college-wide efforts to ensure cohesive, proactive approaches to academic support by collaborating with academic, administrative, and support units, aligning these initiatives with the College's broader student success goals. Create a data-informed and faculty-engaged portfolio of supplemental instruction (SI) offerings in the University Learning Center (ULC), including designing supplemental instruction methodology and hiring, training, and supervising undergraduate SI leaders.
Qualifications
Required Education : Master's Degree in Liberal Arts discipline or Higher Education Administration andPreferred Education : Doctoral Degree in related disciplineRequired Experience : 5 years of increasingly responsible professional level experience in academic advisement, teaching or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Preferred Experience : Related experience at a top college or university.Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities : Knowledge of recent research on student success related to retention and graduation and other higher education issues. Knowledge of best practices in learning theory and supplemental instruction, applying evidence-based strategies to enhance academic support programs and promote student success. Knowledge of higher education case management, including strategies for addressing student challenges, coordinating resources, and fostering holistic well-being to support academic and personal success. Knowledge of student information and student success retention systems, and experience with data analysis. Superior communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels. Ability to develop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with others to further the organization's goal.Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities : Knowledge of higher education issues.
Additional Information
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $75,000.00 to USD $85,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education / training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
