The O'Brien Automotive Team is seeking to hire motivated detailed oriented and driven individuals to add to our Automotive Sales Professional Team. Ideal candidates will have the ability to make our customers feel welcome and supported throughout the vehicle-purchasing process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Sells automobiles by understanding and demonstrating characteristics, capabilities, and features; developing and qualifying buyers; closing sales.
- Understands automobiles by studying characteristics, capabilities, and features; comparing and contrasting competitive models; inspecting automobiles.
- Develops buyers by maintaining rapport with previous customers; suggesting trade-ins; meeting prospects at community activities; greeting drop-ins; responding to inquiries; recommending sales campaigns and promotions.
- Qualifies buyers by understanding buyer's requirements and interests; matching requirements and interests to various models; building rapport.
- Demonstrates automobiles by explaining characteristics, capabilities, and features; taking drives; explaining warranties and services.
- Closes sales by overcoming objections; asking for sales; negotiating price; completing sales or purchase contracts; explaining provisions; offering accessories for vehicle; scheduling first service appointment; and delivering automobile.
- Follows Dealership sales processes and provides sales management information by completing reports.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications.
- Enhances dealership reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Takes pride and ownership in job by keeping lot and showroom customer-ready.
- Performs related duties as assigned by Sales Manager or GM.
- Maintains compliance with all company policies and procedures, including NADA Code of Ethics and O’Brien Auto Team of Bloomington-Normal Code of Conduct.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- Valid Driver’s License
- Excellent, spotless driving record (no speeding tickets, DUI convictions, moving violations, etc.)
- Motivated, confident, persuasive, customer-focused, experienced sales professional; automobile sales preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers and exceptional networker.
- Excellent organizational skills; able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet sales goals, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
- Ability to work varied hours, as prescribed by the business needs.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Some prior sales experience desired.
Strong background in business, mathematics, marketing and computers (Microsoft Office, Internet, email) desired.
Environmental and Physical Requirements: Employees work outdoors often and may not be protected from weather conditions.
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
- Sitting, standing, talking, walking, hearing/listening, bending, stooping, reaching, repetitive hand motion (such as typing) are all physical requirements of the job.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
- Regular exposure to moving vehicles in dealership lots and service garages.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions is subject to extreme cold and extreme heat while performing the job.
- Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone and interact well with the public.

Insurance
Health insurance is available for employees who are regularly scheduled to work 30 or
more hours per week. Employees are eligible to participate in the OAT insurance
program after 90 days of employment.
The O’Brien Team does participate in the premium cost of the employees health, dental
and vision insurance. The remainder of the premium cost is payroll deducted bi-weekly
as is the cost for any other insurance an employee elects to participate in.

OAT team members are eligible to participate in the OAT 401K Retirement Program
after they are 21 years of age and have worked for OAT for a minimum of 6 months.
OAT matches employee contributions up to $500.00 per year.
Enrollment is 2 times per year. Once you qualify for the Retirement Plan, you
must wait until there is an open enrollment to participate.
Unless an employee chooses to opt out, once you are eligible, you will be enrolled at a 3% per
paycheck salary contribution.
Vacation
All full time O’Brien Auto Team employees begin with 1 week vacation time. Vacation is
earned after each calendar year of employment. Please see the OAT Employee

PTO (Personal Time Off)
PTO is earned at a rate of 2 hours per full calendar month worked for a total of 4 PTO
days per year. Please see the OAT Employee Handbook for specific details. PTO
accrual begins after 90 days of employment.
Part Time Employee Paid Time Off
All part time employees will accrue .77 hours of paid time off for every week worked.
Time is available for use after 90 days of employment. Policy details are available in
BambooHR.
Paid Holidays
Full time Team members who have worked a minimum of 90 days are eligible for
holiday pay per the employee handbook.
