Job purpose
Under the direction of the Building Safety & Security Manager, this position involves performing a variety of duties to monitor and enforce company policies aimed at ensuring the physical safety of employees, protecting company assets, and safeguarding visitors and customers. The role includes identifying and mitigating security vulnerabilities to prevent breaches, such as securing facility access, preventing vandalism, company theft, and property damage, and keeping unauthorized personnel out. The primary objective is to deter or discourage individuals with malicious intent, whether they be thieves, vandals, terrorists, or disgruntled employees.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Continuously monitor and enforce company policies.
- Secure access to the facility, prevent building vandalism, theft, property damage, and restrict unauthorized personnel from entering.
- Maintain a log in accordance with C-TPAT policies and regulations for overseas commercial truck inspections (17-point inspection).
- Serve as a primary responder to the Company Contingency Plan, available 24/7.
- Conduct daily employee inspections and supervise/control access to all building gates and doors.
- Demonstrate excellent phone etiquette and provide outstanding customer service to employees, staff, and the public.
- Monitor Fire System water pump (PSI).
- Prepare daily reports and maintain traffic and visitor logs.
- Conduct regular perimeter patrols both inside and outside the building.
- Continuously monitor the employee parking lot.
- Oversee the Fire Emergency System (sprinklers) and Burglar Panel System (door sensors).
- Monitor and review company surveillance footage both inside and outside the building.
- Assist with after-hours receiving of deliveries and flatbed departures.
- Maintain continuous communication with the Plant Manager, Human Resources, Department Managers, Supervisors, and Employees to ensure enforcement of company policies and procedures.
- Act as the point of contact for escorting terminated employees, crisis response, disaster management, employee evacuations, workplace violence incidents, and other emergency situations.
- Uphold Maverick Arms Security Principles with a high level of integrity, professionalism, and responsibility to maintain the company’s high standards.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Prior security experience or similar field experience preferred.
- Security certifications are a plus, but not required (unarmed security).
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, both day and night, and maintain post.
- Ability to work 8 to 12-hour shifts.
- Availability to work on holidays.
- Physical ability to conduct perimeter walks both inside and outside the facility.
- Strong phone etiquette and excellent customer service skills.
- Must successfully pass a criminal background check and drug test.
Working conditions
Office environment is located within a manufacturing facility and includes security-related responsibilities. Security personnel are expected to stay informed about weather changes and annual holidays. Guards work rotating shifts, maintain logs and reports, remain at their posts, and perform physical inspections and perimeter patrols both inside and outside the building.
Physical requirements
- Must be able to move, lift, and transport items weighing at least 20 lbs.
- Must be capable of consistently operating office and security equipment (e.g., surveillance system, cameras, copier, printer) for a minimum of 8 hours per day.
- Must be able to remain stationary for extended periods of up to 8 hours per day.
- Must be able to detect and report any discrepancies, employee accidents, or disciplinary actions through surveillance or direct observation.
- Must be able to communicate and exchange information with colleagues verbally, nonverbally, and in writing.
- Must be able to move throughout the facility and office areas to perform perimeter inspections, control facility access, operate office equipment, plant machinery, or cover other areas of the facility as required.
- Must be available to work rotating shifts and on annual holidays.
