What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cutoff Operator B position at O'Fallon Casting?
Primary Function:
Remove complex castings from sprue sticks using cutoff saws.
Tools and Equipment:
Various saws, tote pans, racks, saw blades, personal protective equipment.
Material:
Aluminum, copper, and brass based alloys.
Direction of Others:
Provide guidance and instruction to Casting Cleaning Operators.

OTHER DUTIES BY THE INCUMBENT.
1 Shall adhere to all safety requirements as posted on the job safety card.
2 Shall consistently follow all applicable work instructions.
3 Shall receive daily work assignments from the supervisor.
4 Shall be able to efficiently and effectively use the available abrasive saws and band saws to
remove castings from sprue sticks, following the manufacturing process sheet and the special
process sheet instructions.
5 Shall visually inspect all rows of castings on the spruestick, notifying the supervisor of any potential
cut off problems.
6 Shall exercise extreme care in cutting the castings from the sprue stick, attempting to avoid any nicks
or saw blade damage.
7 Shall place individual castings on racks always maintaining batch integrity, and keeping the
appropriate test bars together with the castings.
8 Shall transfer castings to the next operation on the process sheet.
9 Shall replace saw blades, abrasive wheels, and do other minor maintain as required.
10 Shall identify revert metal, and transfer to the foundry or to stores as required.
11 Shall be capable of establishing acceptable cutoff techniques (including fixtures) for samples
castings.
12 Shall maintain all records, vouchers, and logs in a clean and orderly condition, where accuracy is
paramount.
13 Shall attend and successfully complete hazardous material / waste handling classes.
14 Shall maintain work area in a clean and orderly condition.
15 Shall attend and successfully complete lockout / tagout training classes.
16 Shall attend and successfully complete training in the proper techniques of lifting.
17 Shall have working knowledge of blueprints.
18 Shall perform other duties as assigned.
Work Environment:
Must be able to tolerate the normal temperature swings typically experienced in a foundry environment.
Must be capable of exercising extreme care in daily work habits due to the potential dangerous nature
Special Skills Required:
Must have sufficient strength and manual dexterity to perform the physical demands of the job.
