What are the responsibilities and job description for the Heat Treat Operator B position at O'Fallon Casting?
Primary Function:
Heat treat castings per company and customer specifications.
Tools and Equipment:
Gas and electric annealing and age hardening ovens, racks, pans, quench tanks, electronic media, etc.
Material:
Aluminum, copper, and brass castings, test bars, quenching liquid, etc.
Working Procedure:
With the guidance and supervision of the department supervisor.
THE FOLLOWING ARE THE USUAL MAJOR JOB DUTIES BUT THIS JOB DESCRIPTION DOES NOT PRECLUDE THE PERFORMANCE OF
OTHER DUTIES BY THE INCUMBENT.
1 Shall adhere to all safety requirements as posted on the job safety card.
2 Shall consistently follow all applicable work instructions.
3 Shall receive daily work assignments from the supervisor.
4 Shall place castings in the appropriate oven basket while maintaining batch integrity, and keeping
the appropriate test bars together with the castings.
5 Shall use extreme care in loading and unloading castings to reduce excessive distortion, warping,
or handling damage.
6 Shall set and monitor oven temperature as required.
7 Shall continually monitor the process noting any apparent problems and notifying the supervisor of
such.
8 Shall remove castings from the oven at the appropriate time.
9 Shall transfer castings immediately to the Straightening department freezer if required.

10 Shall faithfully apply all applicable MIL. SPECS., and report any apparent deviations to the Quality
Assurance Manager.
11 Shall attend and successfully complete hazardous material / waste handling classes.
12 Shall maintain all labor vouchers, records, and files, in addition to a variety of logs where
accuracy is paramount, and enter all required information into the Company software in a
timely manner.
13 Shall maintain work area in a clean and orderly condition.
14 Shall attend and successfully complete lock out / tag out training.
15 Shall successfully attend and complete training in the proper techniques of lifting.
16 Shall perform other duties as assigned.
Work Environment:
Must be able to tolerate the temperature swings typically experienced in a foundry environment.
Must be able to work overtime at a moments notice due to the nature of the job.
Special Skills Required:
Must have sufficient strength and manual dexterity to perform the physical demands of the job.
Must have above average working knowledge of personal computers and related software.
Must have the ability to complete malty task.
Must have a high school diploma or the equivalent.
Salary : $25 - $29
