What are the responsibilities and job description for the Heavy / MPI Wax Press Operator - B position at O'Fallon Casting?
Primary Function:
Operate all types of manually / automatically loaded wax injection machines where medium to heavy, complex, die assembly / disassembly is required to produce a quality wax pattern.
Generate appropriate sprue stick and reclaimed wax shape stock to maintain scheduled assembly production.
Wax injection machines, pumps, dies, inserts, rework tools, c-clamps, storage trays, pry bars, hoists, wax melting tanks, impact wrenches, electronic media, etc.
Material:
Petroleum based waxes, die lubricants and cleaners, rework tools, scotchbrite pads, etc.
Working Procedure:
Under the guidance and supervision of the department supervisor and the group leader, and the
direction of the Heavy Wax Press Operator - A, the Heavy Wax Press Operator - B, MPI Operator
THE FOLLOWING ARE THE USUAL MAJOR JOB DUTIES BUT THIS JOB DESCRIPTION DOES NOT PRECLUDE THE PERFORMANCE OF
OTHER DUTIES BY THE INCUMBENT.
1 Shall follow all of the safety requirements as posted on the job safety card.
2 Shall receive daily work assignments from the department supervisor or the department lead person.
3 Shall consistently follow all applicable work instructions.
4 Shall effectively and efficiently operate all types of manually / automatically loaded wax injection machines.
5 Shall assemble and disassemble medium to heavy, complex dies requiring the utmost care to
reduce die damage which would require repair or replacement of the die.
6 Shall check and record wax control dimensions per wax inspections.
7 Shall locate and set up assigned jobs, make required adjustments to clamp pressure, wax injector
pressure, nozzle temperature, and wax flow rate.
8 Shall attend and successfully complete lockout / tagout training classes .
9 Shall visually inspect and repair wax patterns for defects such as non-fill, flow lines, wax cracks,
chips, air bubbles, distortion, etc., reporting evidence of such to the supervisor and / or lead
person.
10 Shall setup and inject all the various heavy sprue stick dies on the MPI wax machine being
extremely careful so as to not cause any damage to the dies, always being cognizant of the various
metal insert diameters and lengths required.
11 Must be physically able to transport, install, un-install, assemble, disassemble, inject, and maneuver all
sprue material, molds, mold plates, mold shoes, etc., utilizing the die cart, and hoists as necessary.
12 Shall maintain all labor vouchers, records, and files, in addition to a variety of logs where
accuracy is paramount, and enter all required information into the Company software in a
timely manner.
13 Shall maintain the work area in a clean and orderly condition.
14 Shall attend and successfully complete training in the proper techniques of lifting.
15 Shall attend and successfully complete training in basic blueprint reading and measuring techniques.
16 Shall attend and successfully complete hazardous material / waste handling classes.
17 Shall perform other duties as assigned.

Must have sufficient strength and manual dexterity to perform the physical demands of the job.
Must possess average proficiency in the use of personal computers and related software.
Requires ability to use MPI electronic operating system and related diagnostics.
No minimum formal educational achievement required.
Salary : $25 - $29
