What are the responsibilities and job description for the DECORATOR - Must be available to work SUNDAYS! position at O&H Danish Bakery?
- Decorate, build and ice custom cakes and other treats as specified by order slip. Must have an eye for detail when assembling cakes and evaluating structure. Must place finished products carefully on racks for cooling/wrapping, and ensuring proper storage.
- Knowledgeable of building and decorating techniques, and familiar with pricing and quality standards of various cake orders and decorating styles.
- Use of specific decorating tools is required, will be using various knives.
- Maintains area clean and clear of debris. Follows proper bakery Department, safety, and security procedures and standards.
- Follows Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) guidelines as it refers to proper technique and quality.
- Cleaning and sanitation of all equipment required by this position and follows GMP’s.
- Assists with other bakery duties as needed. Assists in other departments as necessary.
- Provides prompt and courteous customer service to members, employees, and suppliers.
- Good communication both verbally and in writing, in a way that can be easily understood by co-workers and managers. A command of manual dexterity.
- A keen eye for detail, a creative mind, an ability to distinguish between colors and mathematical skills necessary to create and follow recipes.
- Displays a professional behavior toward others. Assists co-workers and managers as needed. Is proactive and reacts quickly in identifying problems, finding solutions and making sound decisions.
- Must multi-task and adhere to deadlines while working independently. Organized and able to prioritize.
- Work together well with a variety of personalities and individuals and participates in a professional manner to accomplish the business goal (quality bakery, great customer service).
- Must be able to ice and construct sixteen 7” cakes per hour within six months, and twelve quarter sheet cakes per hour within six months. To what standards the O & H style of acceptable artistry.
- MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK SUNDAYS
Experience
Preferred- • Must be at least 18 years of age • Previous cake creation or finishing experience is a plus.
Education
Preferred- High School or better
