Job purpose
To inspect and certify all finished wire product according to inspection procedures prior to shipping.
Duties and responsibilities
- Inspection of finish goods material at wire drawing and cleaning house departments according to procedures and specifications.
- Understand final inspection procedures.
- Understand production sheet information and various QC Forms to be filled out.
- Know grade designation and acceptance criteria for all materials.
- Able to accurately measure wire diameter with a micrometer and caliper.
- Computer entry of production sheet information and printing certification records.
- Understanding tag system.
- Update required inspection data into AS400.
- Understand what the processing steps are for each of the processes’ O&k does (ex. cleaning house, annealing, wire draw)
- Understand Non-Conformance procedures.
- Able to visually identify kind of coating for final product out of Cleaning House.
- Keep tensile room and fume hood area clean and organized.
- Able to perform: Final product visual inspection, Marco-etch test, Tensile Test, Rockwell hardness test, Spectrometer test, Upset test, Reduction of area measurement, Emboss tag generation if needed, and Mount preparation if requested.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Able to read, write and speak English.
- High School diploma or higher.
- Basic knowledge of steel, QA process, and Metallurgy.
- Computer skills.
- Able to work with machine inspection equipment.
- Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed.
- Math and deductive reasoning skills.
Working conditions
- Regularly lifting, traveling up and down stairs, sitting, squatting and bending in various positions - traveling in and out of work areas, walking and being on your feet for a majority of the work day.
- Daily exposed to noise, dust, fumes, and odors. Physical exertion is required.
- The employee requires standing, bending and twisting for scheduled shift.
- Requires work in a non-air-conditioned area during the summer months.
- Vision protection, metatarsal steel-toed shoes, hard hat, ear plugs, and high visibility clothing is required.
Physical requirements
- Lift minimum of 50 pounds.
- Bend and climb.
- Able to see and hear.
- Must be able to identify and distinguish colors.
