Our commitment to quality and excellence has established us as a leader in the industry.

Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Project Engineer to join our preconstruction team. In this role, your primary responsibility will be performing material takeoffs and assisting the preconstruction team to ensure projects are accurately estimated and prepared for execution. While a background in construction is preferred, it is not mandatory. Attention to detail, excellent communication skills, thoroughness, and the ability to work both collaboratively and independently are essential. Bilingual candidates, especially those fluent in Spanish, are highly encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

Bid Document Analysis and Material Quantification:

  • Accurately and thoroughly review bid documents, including plans, blueprints, and specifications, to extract relevant information pertaining to our scopes of work.
  • Identify and quantify all materials required for each project, ensuring precision in measurements and adherence to project requirements.
  • Utilize industry-standard software tools, such as BlueBeam, to perform digital takeoffs efficiently and accurately.
  • Collaborate with the estimating team to verify quantities and resolve any discrepancies or ambiguities in the bid documents.
  • Maintain organized records of all takeoff data, assumptions, and calculations for future reference and project handover.
  • Stay updated with the latest construction materials, methods, and best practices to ensure accurate takeoff processes.

Preconstruction Support:

  • Manage the new construction database, monitor emails for new leads, and set up new leads.
  • Download and evaluate plans and specifications, submit Requests for Information (RFIs), and obtain pricing from subcontractors.
  • Follow up on outstanding bids, request submittals and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
  • Conduct Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA) reports and compile prep sheets and additional documents for field crews.
  • Attend site meetings and prepare necessary documentation.

Snow Event Invoicing:

  • Assist with the invoicing process during snow events, ensuring accurate and timely billing.
  • Collaborate with the accounting team to track services rendered and compile necessary documentation for invoicing.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Undertake other tasks and activities that align with your skillset, contributing to the overall success of the team.
  • Embrace the dynamic nature of working in a small business, where team members often wear multiple hats and collaborate across various functions.

Qualifications:

  • Preferably 1 year of experience in site concrete, paving, or utilities.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other standard management software.
  • Excellent documentation skills and a proactive approach to resolving issues promptly.
  • Ability to write professional and effective emails and letters.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills to enhance overall efficiency.
  • Basic understanding of construction terminology, plans, materials, and methods, with the ability to communicate effectively within the construction environment.
  • Proficiency with BlueBeam software.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is highly desirable.

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary, based on experience.
  • Annual bonus program based on overall company performance.
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Paid vacation, holidays, and sick time.
  • SIMPLE IRA.
  • Company-provided phone and laptop/iPad.
