What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Teacher - Life Skills Program position at O'Maley Innovation Middle School?
Job Description
Fulfill regular classroom duties of the lead teacher in O’Maley Middle School’s sub-separate Life Skills
program to support students with learning disabilities by providing individualized, intensive instruction in
areas like reading, writing, language comprehension and executive functioning.
The Life Skills Program supports students with complex cognitive profiles, learning delays and significant
disabilities. Students generally receive academic instruction in a small group setting within a sub-separate
special education classroom, and are included with their same-age peers to the extent possible during the
school day. Specialized instruction is highly individualized and may include related services. A low student
to staff ratio allows opportunities for student success academically, socially, and emotionally.
