Technician Position Overview:
The technician will be responsible for maintaining the overall health of ornamental trees and shrubs. Your knowledge of plants and chemicals will be vital as you travel from site to site, identifying problems and determining the appropriate chemicals needed for an impactful solution. This position will work independently and requires self-motivation, drive and organization.
Primary Functions:
- Identify issues or diseases with ornamental trees, shrubs, and perennials
- Applying fertilizer, insecticides and fungicides as appropriate
- Other responsibilities as needed (for example - aeration and overseeding, top-dressing, lawn spraying, etc.) or requested by management or supervisor
Qualifications:
- 1 years experience in the field in a similar role
- Experience in fertilizing and pest control applications
- Ability to identify common pests and diseases
- Excellent communications skills with the ability to effectively interact with clients and address their concerns
- Ability to work independently and take responsibility for your daily schedule
- Ability to use technology to document site work and process necessary paperwork
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- NC Pesticide spraying license or willingness to obtain within 6 months of employment
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to partake in extended periods of physical activity including bending, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling & squatting
- Must be able to walk 5 miles per day while handling spray equipment
- Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Must be able to work around bees, poisonous plants, pollen, and other environmental hazards
- Must have full range of motion in upper body and be able to reach over ones head
