An Assistant Managing Clerk (“AMC”) reports to a Managing Clerk (“MC”) and is responsible for processing filings, calendaring, conducting docket research, reviewing pleadings for rule compliance, and providing various administrative services in support of our litigation attorneys.The AMC collaborates with the MC on executing department protocols and providing staff and attorneys with high-level quality customer service.

D Uties And Responsibilities
- File documents in various state, federal and agencies;
- Process nationwide service of process requests and document retrievals;
- Maintain firm general litigation and/or Intellectual Property (patents, trademarks, copyrights and annuities) calendar;
- Provide advice to litigation attorneys and personnel regarding form of pleadings and interpretation of court rules in local and remote jurisdictions;
- Review and edit documents for proper form and procedural compliance before service/filing;
- Interact with court personnel to discuss issues relating to court procedures and operating procedures;
- Process nationwide service requests, document retrievals and conventional filings of court documents with various vendors.
- Ability to quickly obtain exemplars and templates of documents filed in various courts in response requests for precedent;
- Assist litigation attorneys and staff with procedural research assignments.
- Monitor and disseminate docket sheets of various federal and state courts cases;
- Conduct docket research on Westlaw, LexisNexis, CourtLink, PACER, etc;
- Perform various projects and tasks as needed.
- Minimum 3 years Docketing, Court Services, Managing Attorney’s Office or in-house legal experience.
- Knowledge of Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, CPLR, Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure, and Federal Rules of Appellate Procedure
- Ability to apply court rules to questions in multiple jurisdictions quickly, efficiently, and in a manner which instills confidence in litigators and mitigates risk of filing rejections;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to articulate court rules and in a comprehensible, accurate, and concise manner;
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and multitask under demanding situations.
