What are the responsibilities and job description for the EHS Manager OMS position at O'Neal Manufacturing Services?
- Duties include but are not limited to strategic HSE planning for the facility, auditing and self-inspection, standard and regulation interpretation, incident investigation, environmental site assessment, securing safety equipment, and creating and revising training materials with an emphasis on maintaining 100% compliance with OSHA, EPA, and O’Neal Industries (ONI) HSE standards and programs.
- Provide strategic direction to sustain a comprehensive system for hazard prevention and control.
- Develop written instructions to maintain full compliance with HSE government regulations and corporate safety standards.
- Manage the facility’s HSE budget with an emphasis on what is required for regulatory compliance and gaining efficiencies by partnering with other OMS locations in HSE purchases.
- Conduct required HSE program training sessions to educate team members and enhance overall plant HSE performance metrics.
- Maintain safety performance records and develop key metrics to identify best-in-class facility performance benchmarks.
- Conduct job safety audits and develop behavior-based safety processes to support a continuous improvement culture.
- Utilize technology to maintain performance records and share critical information needed to mitigate risk and educate team members to support overall HSE program goals.
- Use a hands-on approach to discovering HSE improvement opportunities by spending extended time on the floor with the employees to understand their needs and implement long-term solutions.
- Work closely with production and maintenance to find solutions that are safe, productive, and cost-effective.
- Review safety requirements on new products, new production equipment, and facility layout.
- Conduct all necessary emergency drills, exercises, and tabletops with outside authorities.
- Conduct monthly safety meetings and collaborate with other HSE Managers on the OMS Safety Council.
- Direct incident analysis for all safety, security, and environmental incidents and serve as principal site contact for all emergencies with the facility manager.
- Serve as the principal manager for the facility worker’s compensation program.
- Document and maintain all necessary HSE records including OSHA recordkeeping and Environmental reports.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Science in Occupational Safety and/or Environmental is preferred.
- Minimum 5 to 10 years of experience in an HSE role in manufacturing is preferred.
- Experience leading HSE programs at the facility level.
- Excellent leadership abilities and knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to affect safety culture by improving employee engagement in safety programs.
- Proven experience with risk assessment and risk management techniques associated with ergonomics, materials handling, machine guarding systems, and hazardous energy control (LOTO).
- Working knowledge of facility environmental processes such as hazardous and universal wastes, stormwater permitting, EPCRA, and TRI reporting.
