Job Summary
Material Handler position in our Shipping & Receiving Department will operate sit-down fork trucks to move product in the facility, in and out of semi-trailers, and record product locations. They will also pull product and prepare product for shipping.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Commitment to workplace safety.
- Receive inbound inventory, place material into storage, pull inventory from storage to fill customer orders, and load material on trucks and in semi-trailers for outbound shipment.
- Provide error-free work to all internal and external customers as related to the ouput of the position.
- Work under direct supervision.
- Support safety and quality programs by following all accompanying rules and established processes.
- Other duties as assigned.
Shifts
- This is a 1st shift position, Monday through Friday. Hours of shift to be determined: 6:00am to 2:30pm or 7:00am to 3:30pm or 8:00am to 4:30pm.
- Overtime is posted on Wednesday of the prior week.
Skills and Qualifications
- Simple problem solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to operate a fork truck and overhead crane.
- Ability to use a variety of hand tools such as: hammer, pliers, screwdriver, wrench, drill, grinder, bander, shrink wrapper.
- Ability to accurately read a tape measure.
- Has knowledge of commonly used practices and procedures. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
- High School diploma or equivalent (preferred).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 20-50 lbs. repetitively throughout the course of a shift.
- Ability to bend, sit, stand, twist and stoop for long periods of time.
- Ability to walk 2-5 miles throughout the course of a shift.
- Have good vision of 20/30 with corrective lenses.
- Ability to maintain coordination of hand and finger movements to grasp and manipulate objects with precision.
- Subject to environmental conditions that occur indoors and outdoors which include but not limited to changing temperatures, loud noises and vibration from use of equipment and the following: hazards including a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals. Atmospheric conditions: one or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin, fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases or poor ventilation. Oils: in air and/or skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids.
