What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sales Engineer position at O'Neal Manufacturing Services?
This corporate position is responsible for developing cost estimates and pricing in response to quote/proposal requests from new and existing customers and communicating this information to all plant locations. Additionally, this role will analyze customer revisions to determine related cost/price changes and handle all the administrative aspects to set up parts, kits, and assemblies in the business system of the division. The role requires a comprehensive understanding and participation in resolving the technical and operational challenges with business opportunities.
Duties and Responsibilities- Drives retention and growth among customers by understanding their business needs and helping them succeed.
- Has detailed knowledge of products and services offered and ensures that products and services consistently meet client needs.
- Maintains a cadence of communicating with plant contacts to provide details on quotes.
- Advises internal teams on product and service improvements/suggestions based on plant feedback.
- Provide sales quotes and respond to requests for proposals.
- Analyze and evaluate customer prints and specifications to determine the best production methods considering cost and quality.
- Assist other associates as needed in the development of new business with existing customers.
- Help to ensure that we retain business that is profitable, sustainable, and collectible.
- Travel as needed to accomplish desired results. Overnight travel may be required occasionally.
- Apply the principles used in the pricing strategies.
- Work collaboratively with the plants to ensure accurate and timely proposals to the customer.
- Work collaboratively with Plant Managers, Manufacturing Analysts, Sales/Business Development teams, and corporate departments to ensure accurate estimates of manufacturing costs.
- Participate in technical discussions with internal associates.
- Communicate the status of analysis projects and ensure that agreed-upon deadlines are met.
- May assist in creating formal presentations.
- May assist in the preparation and organization of the planned business review meetings with customers.
- Have a general understanding of the financial performance of the division.
- Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook.
- Experience with ERP system, preferred.
- Able to work in a high-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Manufacturing experience preferred.
- Speak conversational English.
