OR Nurse
We are hiring an OR Nurse to cover Mondays from 7am-5pm. The operative nurse should possess phenomenal efficiency and attention to detail with a strong knowledge of operation procedures and patient safety. Being compassionate and sensitive is a prerequisite for the position. Engaging as a critical thinker, acting fast in emergencies is crucial. Requirements:
- Proven experience as operating room nurse.
- Excellent knowledge of aseptic and sterile techniques.
- Solid understanding of patient safety and precautions.
- In-depth knowledge of surgical operation procedures.
- Outstanding organizational ability.
- A great team player with excellent communication skills.
- Cool tempered with emotional and physical stamina .
- Diploma in nursing and a valid license.
Duties include:
- Ensuring patient safety as first priority at all times.
- Assess patients prior to surgery (e.g. NPO status) and alleviate their concerns.
- Ensure all pertinent documentation is available before the patient goes to the OR (consent, photos, etc.).
- Assume responsibility with surgical technologist of keeping the operating room sterilized.
- Position and prepare patient on operating table to physicians' preference.
- May pass medical instruments or other objects to the surgeon during operation.
- Monitor patient's vital signs preoperatively and postoperatively with anesthesia to detect anomalies.
- Evaluate and recover patients in postoperative phases.
- Adhere to safety standards and precautions as outlined by OSHA and Quad A.
- Assume duties within or out of the sterile field as assigned.
- Be familiar with Nextech charting system; chart completely and efficiently.
