What are the responsibilities and job description for the Merchandising Specialist position at O'Reilly Auto Parts?
The Merchandising Specialist plays a vital role in maintaining the front sales floor/showroom area by ensuring it is always stocked, visually appealing, and clean. This includes completing sales preparations, greeting customers, and presenting a professional image.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Greet customers on the sales floor, assist them in finding merchandise or direct them to a parts specialist if needed.
2. Check in, price, and put up stock, keeping the display floor well-maintained.
3. Change displays according to company guidelines, update planograms, and ensure sale signs are in place.
4. Remove all sale material when the sale ends and restore original pricing.
5. Assist with stock adjustments, cycle counts, and overstock returns.
6. Work with the manager to complete store weekly inventory and merchandising tasks.
7. Occasionally serve as a cashier or drive a delivery vehicle when business needs dictate.
Skills/Education/Knowledge/Experience/Abilities:
Required:
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to clearly read, write, and match numbers and letters from various sources
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to work well with others in a team environment
Desired:
• Previous stocking experience
• Ability to drive a manual transmission vehicle
• Fluency in multiple languages (Spanish is highly desired)
