TEMP NEEDED ASAP! We are seeking a dedicated and skilled/experienced Dental Assistant to join our team of skilled talent for a maternity leave beginning in April at a Lexington, SC location for approximately 10 weeks (office is closed two weeks during the 12 week leave). The ideal candidate will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our dental team in delivering high-quality services. This position requires a strong understanding of dental procedures, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Duties
- Assist the dentist during various procedures, ensuring a smooth workflow and patient comfort.
- Prepare and maintain treatment rooms, including sterilization of instruments and equipment.
- Take and develop dental X-rays while adhering to safety protocols.
- Record and update patient medical records accurately, ensuring all information is current.
- Monitor vital signs of patients as needed during procedures.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care.
- Support pediatric patients with a gentle approach to create a positive experience.
- Collaborate with the dental team to ensure effective infection control measures are followed.
- Assist in endodontic procedures by preparing materials and instruments as required.
Skills
The successful candidate will possess the following skills:
- Knowledge of anatomy related to dental health and procedures.
- Proficiency in four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency during treatments.
- Familiarity with Dentrix software for managing patient records and scheduling.
- Experience with infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients.
- Ability to take accurate vital signs and respond appropriately during patient care.
- Understanding of pediatric dentistry practices for working with younger patients.
- Experience in assisting with endodontic treatments is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients and team members.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
