As we continue to expand our operations in Mauritius, we are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our finance team. This role is crucial in maintaining the integrity of our financial operations and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. Job Purpose : The senior accountant will be responsible for managing the companys accounting processes, including general ledger maintenance, financial reporting, and compliance with accounting standards. This role requires a strong understanding of both local and international accounting principles, with an emphasis on accuracy, timeliness, and attention to detail. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing accounting functions and contributing to the overall financial health of the organization.
Responsibilities
Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring that all accounts are properly balanced and discrepancies are promptly addressed.
Manage the entire accounts payable process, including invoice verification, coding, and timely processing of payments to vendors.
Oversee accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely invoicing, payment application, and follow-up on overdue accounts.
Perform regular bank reconciliations to verify the accuracy of cash balances and resolve any discrepancies between bank statements and accounting records.
Maintain the fixed assets register, ensuring accurate tracking of acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation schedules.
Manage intercompany transactions, ensuring proper recording, reconciliation, and settlement of intercompany balances.
Ensure proper revenue recognition according to applicable accounting standards, including the accurate recording of sales, discounts, and returns.
Ensure all accounting practices are in line with company policies, local regulations, and international financial reporting standards (IFRS).
Key Qualifications
Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Professional accounting qualifications (e.g., ACCA, CPA) are strongly preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role. Experience in the financial services sector is an advantage.
Strong knowledge of local and international accounting standards (IFRS).
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong organizational and time management abilities.
