Summary:
Applies a variety of fertilizers and pesticides on all turf and landscape areas using various application equipment. Maintains and repairs all components of the irrigation system including minor servicing of the main and booster pump stations and wells. Assist in Equipment Operator and Section Person duties when needed. Assist in all in-house construction and renovation projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Aids in properly mixing and application of pesticides and fertilizers in all types of application equipment.
- Applies Fertilizers and Pesticides to various turf and landscape areas, as directed.
- Documents all pesticide and fertility applications from Grounds department.
- Operates a variety of equipment used to apply fertilizers and pesticides.
- Monitors, cleans and secures fertilizer and pesticide storage and mixing area.
- Properly calibrates equipment.
- Establishes protocols for spray equipment cleaning and daily operating procedures.
- Operates the backhoe, front end loader, skid steer loader and forklift.
- Operates the SDI 200 gallon sprayer and the Toro 1750 175 gallon sprayer.
- Assist in-house construction and renovation projects.
- Assist in any storm damage clean up and repairs.
- Any & all needs of the golf course, as determined by the Grounds superintendent.
Other Responsibilities:
- Helps with Implementation of Club & Department policies and procedures.
- Use proper PPE for given assignments.
- On-going development and training to maintain excellent golfing conditions for a private club.
- Adherence OSHA, State of Hawai’i and City of Honolulu guidance & protocols for proper pesticide applications.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Lead staff on weekends and at times the Grounds Superintendent and Assistant Grounds Superintendent are not present.
Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in golf turf management.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Hawaiʻi DOA Commercial Restricted Pesticide applicator license.
- Forklift operator training.
- Annual Respirator Fit Test and Cardiopulmonary clearance.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of proper pesticide & fertility applications for golf turf & landscapes.
- Ability to operate an electric golf cart, motorized equipment, and a variety of small tools and implements.
- Ability to follow oral and written directions.
- Ability to use good judgment and to work in a responsible and safe manner
- Ability to communicate and conduct yourself with employees, supervisors and guests in a respectful manner.
