Responsibilities
- Review and verify patient information and insurance coverage for accuracy.
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies using appropriate coding systems, including ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG.
- Process payments and manage accounts receivable to ensure timely collection of outstanding balances.
- Communicate with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance companies to resolve billing discrepancies or issues.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations and coding practices to ensure compliance.
- Collaborate with the medical office team to streamline billing processes and improve efficiency.
Requirements
- Proficiency in medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding (ICD-9, ICD-10), and billing procedures.
- Experience in managing medical records and understanding of DRG classifications is preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical skills for problem-solving.
- Effective communication skills to interact with patients, providers, and insurance representatives.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting is highly desirable.
