The Dental Insurance Coordinator is partnered with the providers and the Practice Manager to drive the growth and success of the office by supporting excellence in patient care and exceeding patient service expectations.
Dental Insurance Coordinator is responsible for proactive management of the insurance authorization process. Supports providers by managing insurance pre-authorizations (initial / ongoing) process. Assists patients with the financial and authorization issues related to their care. Serves as a resource for insurance / authorization process for patients and providers and support staff. Assists with special projects as requested.
- Assist with billing and patient treatment plans
- Establish and verify insurance procedures with staff
- Add new PPO contracts, verify what schedule, and attach accordingly
- Track when each network is to be renegotiated and inquire as to progress
- Provide data to determine effectivity of a network
- Add new doctors to all contracts and complete all necessary paperwork
- Notify all insurance companies and complete all necessary paperwork when doctors change locations
- Liaison between insurance payors and dental offices
- Verify information received from the practice is correct
- Enter all contracted fees, patient copay tables, percentages, maximum's, deductibles, frequencies, and age limits
- Implement electronic claims submission with all payors
- Help support team members questions pertaining to insurance benefits
- Assist in the training of team members; create tools and training documents for the practice
- Communicate with doctors and managers pertaining to needed in system
- Manage any ADA codes that should be considered to be added / deleted
- Determine proper ICD9 and CPT codes for oral surgery and enter into system
- Perform basic computer functions
- Act in a professional manner
- Other duties as assigned

Summary -
Dental Insurance Coordinator must have an in-depth understanding of all patients' insurances. Demonstrate ability to work independently with limited supervision, to resolve issues and attention to detail. Reliable / dependable work history with proven abilities of initiative, and proactive solving. Excellent and effective interpersonal and communication skills. Exceptional organizational skills, flexibility to manage multiple tasks and ability to prioritize large workload. Minimum of two to four years of insurance experience preferred.
