Oak Hall School is seeking a student-centered, collaborative, and engaging mathematics educator to join our Middle School Math team. We invite well-qualified candidates to apply for this position, which will begin in August, 2025.
- Actively support the mission of Oak Hall School
- Prepare, plan and deliver Math curriculum in a creatively engaging and developmentally appropriate manner; 5 sections as assigned, which may include Math 6 (regular and advanced), Math 7, Pre-Algebra and Algebra I
- Plan, evaluate, and revise curriculum, course content, course materials and methods of instruction as needed
- Promote a positive classroom environment and demonstrate strong classroom management skills to create and maintain a learning environment that ensures student safety and promotes high levels of learning for all students
- Assess and document each students performance/progress both formally and informally to meet the School's standards, and provide regular feedback to students and their parents
- Be an active member of the Math Department, the Middle School team, and the greater Oak Hall community
- Sponsor a math team
- Serve as Advisor to a group of assigned students
- Serve as a mentor and advocate for your students
- Be a role model of integrity and professionalism
- Be available throughout the workday to advise and assist students
- Maintain expertise in subject matter through professional development
- Meet regular and predictable attendance requirements, including attending division and other School meetings, professional days, graduation, Late Start meetings, and other required events.
- Adhere to School policies as described in the Employee Handbook and other materials
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree or post graduate work in Math or closely related discipline required
- Masters degree preferred
- Ability to teach classes across the middle school math curriculum, through Algebra I
- Ability to teach additional classes in the high school math curriculum preferred
- A keen understanding of the developmental and social-emotional needs of Middle School students
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Demonstrated leadership and facilitative skills
- Be comfortable and adept with the effective use of technology in the learning process
- Ability to inspire, engage, empower, educate and evaluate students with vigor and creativity
- A history of commitment to professional development and life-long learning
- The ability to work positively and professionally with students, parents, and faculty
- A high degree of professionalism, collegiality, and personal conduct both in and outside of school
- Ability, willingness, and judgment to communicate thoroughly, accurately, and concisely with all constituents in a school environment, both verbally and in writing
- Enthusiasm and commitment to the vision and mission of the school
Physical Requirements and Work Environment: This individual will work in a fast-paced environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts. The employee will regularly uses close and distance vision, and must have the ability to visually and audibly locate students under their supervision. Work at a desk and computer screen for extended periods of time is required. Although the employee will work primarily in a climate controlled office, they will work intermittently in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold. The employee must have the ability to actively circulate throughout the diverse campus environment, and to occasionally lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs.
