Oak Hall School is seeking exceptional coaches to lead our Varsity Boys Golf program and our Varsity Girls Golf program. Head coaching opportunities are available for both the Varsity Boys Golf team, and the Varsity Girls Golf team. With a history of success at the championship level, we now have a need for a coach who desires to continue, and build upon, this tradition of success and work with young players to help them develop their skills and grow as both golfers and student athletes.
Under the supervision of the Director of Athletics, this Coach will contribute to and support all aspects of building, growing and maintaining a highly competitive Golf program, by promoting a positive team environment that ensures high levels of growth and learning for all athletes. As an active and collaborative member of the Athletic Department, and the greater Oak Hall community, this Coach will serve as a mentor for their athletes, and model outstanding sportsmanship and respect for opposing competitors and teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the Head Coach of the Varsity Boys Golf and/or Varsity Girls Golf program at Oak Hall, and under the supervision of the Director of Athletics, manage all aspects of building, growing and maintaining a competitive golf program
- Actively support and promote the mission of Oak Hall School in all aspects of the student athlete experience
- Promote both a competitive and positive team environment that ensures high levels of growth and learning for all athletes
- Be an active and collaborative member of the Athletic Department, and the greater Oak Hall community
- Serve as a mentor and advocate for your athletes
- Be a role model of integrity and professionalism
- Be fluent in different ways to communicate with and motivate athletes of varying skill levels and abilities
- Model outstanding sportsmanship and respect for opposing competitors and/or teams
- Meet regular and punctual attendance requirements for all games, practices and athletic department meetings and functions, as designated by the Athletic Director
- Adhere to School policies as described in the Employee Handbook and other materials
- Adhere to all rules, guidelines and requirements established by the Florida High School Sports Association
- Engage in training on mandatory health and safety protocols, including concussion, heat stroke, and injury prevention techniques.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Significant athletic and competitive experience in golf, and experience coaching high school or collegiate-level golf is preferred. In addition to having a strong base of knowledge and passion for golf and for the student-athlete experience, the ideal candidate will also possess an understanding of the social/emotional needs of high school-aged athletes and be fluent in different ways to communicate with and motivate athletes of varying skill levels and abilities. The Varsity Golf coach must have previous playing or coaching experience and have afternoon and evening availability.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
• Works in an environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines and a varied and diverse array of contacts
• Regularly uses close and distance vision
• May stand for extended periods of time
• Occasionally works at a desk and computer
• Ability to demonstrate physical activities to students
• Ability to visually and audibly locate students under their supervision
• Ability to actively circulate throughout the diverse campus environment and walk varying types of golf course terrain
• Work in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
• Ability to occasionally lift, push or pull up to 30 lbs.
