Forklift operator / Class A CDL

Are you ready to be a part of our journey?    Oak Harbor Freight Lines Dock to Driver program is a full-time, paid training position designed to take applicants from dock worker to a fully endorsed class A CDL driver. As a candidate you must first start out on the dock loading and unloading trailers with a sit-down forklift. After you have been employed for minimum of 6 months and are in good standings, we will start you out in the Dock to Driver program.     You will then be required to get your CDL Permit and start training with one of our many driver trainers. After you have completed 100 hours of behind the wheel training and taking our 1-week training class, you will be all ready to go to the DMV and acquire your Class A CDL driver’s license.   Benefits:  Medical, dental, vision – You choose which plan suits you and our family. Single person pays up to 2% of gross income. Entire family pays up to 4% of gross income. 401K match up to 5%. Accrue 80 hours of PTO within the first 11 months. Holiday pay after your 90 days.   Responsibilities: Safely load and unload trailers using forklifts, pallet jacks, or hand trucks within specified timelines. Responsible for noting and recording exception in count or condition of shipments to minimize cargo claims. Management of paperwork: i.e., check of accuracy and completion of delivery receipts, bills of lading, trailer manifests, counting freight, accuracy of hazardous material shipments, special loading, and handling instructions. Responsible for regrouping shipments as needed. Ability to meet the Company's reliability standard for employees. Availability to work various shifts during the week to accommodate business needs. Other duties as assigned. Requirements: A High School Diploma or GED/Equivalent is strongly preferred. Forklift experience is strongly preferred. Simple arithmetic, weight and/or measuring is required. Experience using tools, machines, and special equipment: hand truck, four-wheel dock cart, pallet jack, barrel truck, dock plates, load locks and/or rope is preferred.
