What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bible and Service Learning Teacher position at Oak Hill School?
Oak Hill School seeks a creative and collaborative candidate as a grades 4th-6th grade Bible and service learning teacher. This faculty member will join a nurturing, Christian community committed to the School’s mission and vision for building a diverse and inclusive community where all children learn, grow, and thrive in a Christian environment. The Bible Teacher will guide students toward building a strong spiritual foundation as a means toward developing character and integrity for a lifetime of learning and service. The candidate will demonstrate a love of working with children, an engaging teaching style, and the ability to interact well with parents, community partners, and colleagues.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the nurture, care and spiritual development of students
Plan and teach engaging Bible classes that deepen a child’s understanding of scripture and God’s love
Plan and teach service learning classes appropriate for 4th-6th grade students, aligned to diversity and inclusion principles.
Organize service-learning field trips for 4th-6th grade students that deepen and/or expand our partnerships with nonprofits in the Nashville community as well as make cross-curricular connections to content students are learning in the general education classroom
Partner with the lower school Bible teacher to organize and assist with school-wide services
Partner with the lower school Bible teacher in the development and implementation of Oak Hill’s Christian education curriculum, Prek-6.
Serve as a member of the Social, Emotional, and Spiritual Life (SESL) committee.
Support a positive, collaborative, and supportive school climate among the faculty, staff, and students
Continue to develop, strengthen, and build our service learning program
Co-teach service learning elective to 5th and 6th grade students

Educational Background and Work Experience:
BA or higher in mastery content, ideally with a MA in Christian Education or other commensurate degree.
