Overview
Oak Lane Farm & Sanctuary is seeking a dedicated and hardworking Ranch Hand to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal welfare, with a willingness to learn and contribute to the daily operations of the horse sanctuary.
Duties
- Assist in the daily care and feeding of the horses and donkeys, including monitoring their health and well-being.
- Catch and handle equines, including holding them during vet and farrier visits.
- Operate and perform routine maintenance on farm equipment and machinery, such as tractors, lawn mowers, chain saws, etc.
- Build and repair horse fencing, including install wooden posts.
- Do mowing, bush hogging, and weed eating.
- Trim trees and remove limbs.
- Wash out water troughs.
- Clean stalls (only a handful).
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas to promote safety and efficiency.
Skills
- Skill in handling and catching horses.
- Mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot and repair equipment as needed.
- Basic carpentry skills.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly.
- Willingness to work outdoors year-round in all types of weather.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
Other qualifications:
- Must be willing to work at least 3 hours on the weekends.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from the farm.
- No smoking on the farm.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $18.75 - $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
