Gymnastics Class Coach
Gymnastics Class Coach is a part time position. Gymnastics Class Coach is responsible for the leadership of their gymnastics classes.

ABOUT US: The Oak Lawn Park District, incorporated in 1944, has a long and proud history of serving the recreational needs of our 56,000 residents with a myriad of recreational programs and services. We operate under the state tax cap as a municipal corporation, meaning we are our own taxing body. Overseen by a Board of five elected officials, the District manages a combination of 34 parks and facilities which cover over 280 acres. In addition, we manage a Special Recreation Cooperative that offers recreational programs and services to individuals with disabilities in 9 municipalities.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Thorough knowledge of the sport of Gymnastics.
• Be able to instruct Preschool through levels 1-3 of the JO program from USAG Gymnastics.
• Ability to cooperate and work with participants, parents and general public.
• Good organizational, written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to perform required duties with initiative, good judgment, accuracy, persistence, creativity, integrity, tact and courtesy.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Pass out all supervisors approved information to classes as provided by supervisor.
• Understand and follow rotation schedule for all classes.
• Understand and teach classes according to the Oak Lawn Park District’s Gymnastics program class curriculum.
• Implement and complete the Pirouettes Gymnastics evaluation program for each of the assigned classes in an efficient, organized manner.
• Take Attendance; maintain current records of scheduled classes.
• Work special events such as Spring Fling and Holiday Show.
• Thorough and comprehensive knowledge of the Gymnastics Staff Manual for the Oak Lawn Park District and adhering to the guidelines as stated as deemed warranted in the performance of this position’s duties.
• At all times serve as an advocate for the Gymnastics program; respond as appropriate to program inquiries with the public and participants of the program. Act as a liaison for the Gymnastics Coordinator in their absence and convey all pertinent information as necessity deems.
• Attend all required meetings and workshops including but not limited CPR & First Aid, OLPD Safety training and keep current USAG Safety Certifications.
• Demonstrate the ability to comply with all Oak Lawn Park District and Gymnastics policies and regulations.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
• Thorough and comprehensive knowledge of the Gymnastics Staff Manual for the Oak Lawn Park District and adhering to the guidelines as stated as deemed warranted in the performance of this position’s duties.
• Perform all other related duties as assigned and are deemed appropriate relating to this position.
PHYSICAL CONSIDERATIONS:
• Work all scheduled hours, 4-35 hours a week as designated by supervisor.
• Must be able to work weekends, mornings, and evening hours.
• Has ability to perform instruct, demonstrate basic skills, spot participants (catch and carry participants), and move equipment. Equipment should not exceed more then 1/3-body weight of the individual.
PSYCHOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS:
• Ability to maintain positive and effective working relationships with other employees and the public.
• Ability to use good judgment in absence of supervision.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS:
• Worker performs activities indoors. Indoor environmental conditions will include lighting and temperature.
COGNITIVE CONSIDERATIONS:
• Has the ability to communicate with verbal and written language in order to lead programs.
• Employee must posse’s time management and organization skills to effectively perform his/her job.
• Employee must have ability to make judgments with respect to confidentiality of information and problem solving.
• Employee must obey and enforce all safety rules, regulations, and procedures established by the safety program that are pertinent to the activities conducted by the Gymnastics Department.
