Job Description
The Charge Nurse at Oak Manor Inc is responsible for supervising the total nursing activities on their assigned station during a shift. This role requires organizational and leadership skills to assign tasks effectively among staff members based on qualifications, facility layout, and resident needs.
- Assume charge of personnel assigned to their area and ensure a smooth operation of nursing care services.
- Organize and prioritize tasks to distribute workload evenly among staff members.
- Recognize significant changes in residents' conditions and take necessary actions to maintain high-quality care.
- Assign duties to aides, including break times and special responsibilities.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, ensuring adherence to medical orders.
- Make meaningful rounds with residents, utilizing assessment and care plans to meet individual needs.
- Document resident assessments, care plans, and treatment progress to maintain accurate records.
- Maintain open communication with the Nursing Director, Activities Director, and Food Service Supervisor to address resident concerns and implement changes as needed.
- Recommend staffing adjustments to optimize care delivery.
- Participate in staff meetings to discuss operational improvements and provide guidance on best practices.
- Transcribe physician orders and administer or supervise treatments, including decubitus care, foley catheter care, hot and cold compresses, etc.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and healthcare professionals to address concerns and provide timely updates.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Certifications: RN/LVN license, CPR/BLS certification.
- Experience in long-term care, gerontology, or acute care settings.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and time management skills.
