About This Role
The Assistant Principal contributes to administering and supervising the operation of the school in all phases. The Assistant Principal will incorporate the Illinois Performance Standards for School Leaders to effectively guide professional practice to ensure a positive learning environment for all students and staff as well as facilitating meaningful collaboration with families and community partners. Additionally, they coach and develop teachers to enhance core instruction and ensure equitable access to programming. Serving as an instructional leader, they integrate curriculum delivery and social/emotional support. The Assistant Principal plays a vital role in school transformation, engaging students, staff, and the community, with a focus on equitable curriculum delivery. They help to facilitate smooth school transitions for students and families. They play a vital role in supporting student supervision and conduct.

Collaborates with the Building Principal to analyze student achievement and facilitate the school improvement process.

Assists the Building Principal with the administration and coordination of student assessment programs.
Participates in the preparation of student schedules, per Building Principal’s direction.
Assists in safety inspections and safety drill practice activities.
Participates in the selection, assignment, supervision, and evaluation of professional staff, educational support staff, contracted staff, coaches/sponsors, and extracurricular activity sponsors assigned to the school.
Asserts leadership during emergency situations in accordance with established Board of Education policies, applicable statutes, and administrative procedures.
Monitors the implementation and observance of Board policies and regulations by the school’s staff and students.
Assists the Building Principal in the organization and administration of the public relations program for the school.
Cooperates with student services personnel to develop educational opportunities for students.
Promotes professional growth by informing staff of opportunities for development; by leading in-service training activities; by helping teachers integrate skills learned and assisting in classroom implementation, and through clinical supervision activities.
Assumes full administrative responsibilities in the absence of the Building Principal.
Complies with all contractual duties, Board of Education policies, and administrative procedures; adheres to state and federal laws and regulations.
Attends meetings and serves on or leads committees and other school, District, and community groups as required by position or building need.
Assumes responsibility for own professional development; for keeping current with the literature, new research findings, and improved techniques in specialized areas; and for attending appropriate professional meetings.
Uses current available technologies to enhance job productivity and communication with staff, parents, and the community.
Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect the health and safety of students, staff, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Exhibits ethical behavior and integrity and maintains confidentiality for all school-related responsibilities.

Supports the implementation of all student programs and services, including Academic 504’s.

Oversees and monitors the cleanliness, safety, security, administration, and use of the school facilities, properties, and equipment for both academic and non-academic purposes.
Attends school-sponsored, District-sponsored, or related activities, functions, and athletic events.
Supervises students before and after school, during student lunch periods, and during other activities designated by the Building Principal
Shares with the Building Principal responsibility for the attendance, health, and safety of students, staff, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Prepares reports, records, lists, and other administrative tasks assigned by the Building Principal.
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor/s and Superintendent.

Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with General Administrative or Principal Endorsement
Illinois Designation as Teacher Evaluator
Master's Degree
Five Years of Teaching Experience preferred
Physical Requirements:
This position requires the performance of light work—which requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. The position includes close visual acuity, frequent talking, hearing, walking and standing, occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. The job is performed in non-hazardous environments and a clean atmosphere. The position requires indoor and outdoor supervision during varying temperatures and climatic conditions.
Salary : $93,000 - $110,000
