The Oak Ridge National Laboratory has an opening for a Lineman/Linewoman. In this role, you will, under limited supervision, perform tasks associated with this position as well as other tasks as directed by management.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Using knowledge of principles and operation of transmission and distribution systems, overhead and underground distribution, and transmission construction and maintenance methods, perform tasks associated with the position.
- Install and remove poles, towers, and structures.
- Install and change transformers.
- Install and maintain underground cable.
- Abide by the principles of Safe Conduct of Research including being personally responsible for ensuring safe operations by raising safety concerns, using a questioning attitude, considering hazards for every task, and never stop learning.

- Successful completion of a certified lineman apprenticeship
- A minimum of three years journeyman level lineman experience. An equivalent combination of education and relevant lineman experience may be considered.
- Knowledge of principles and operation of transmission and distribution systems, overhead and underground distribution and transmission construction and maintenance methods
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL) within three months of employment.
- Work will involve various physical requirements and certain working conditions and as such a post offer, pre-hire physical will be required
- Formal training programs
- Industrial experience
- Experience with interrupters
- Experience with SNC Vista Gear
- Bucket Rescue Training Certification
- Manhole Rescue Certification
