THE POSITION 
The Superintendent/Principal is the chief executive officer of the school and is directly responsible to the Board of Trustees as well as serving as the educational leader of the school.  Oak Run Elementary School believes in meeting the needs of the whole child (physical, intellectual, emotional, social & moral). The Superintendent/Principal will oversee all district operations in accordance with Board Policies and direction while working directly with staff, parents, students, and the community to provide needed leadership and ensure the success of the school.
THE LOCATION 
Our rural school, located about 22 miles northeast of Redding, is proud to be a community school. Oak Run is a tight-knit community, which is very inclusive, supportive,  and unified. 
Oak Run is nestled in the foothills of Shasta County, 25 miles east of Redding, near Lassen Volcanic National Park, Whiskeytown National Recreation Area, Shasta Lake and the Trinity Alps Wilderness. This area offers a multitude of outdoor recreation endeavors from world-class fishing, mountain biking, snow skiing, hiking, backpacking, camping, boating, water sports, birding and rock climbing.
THE DISTRICT & SCHOOL
Oak Run Elementary is a one school district.  It has a "one-room school house feel." Next years projected enrollment is currently about 25 students, Preschool - 8th grade. Enrollment encompasses both extremes of the economic spectrum with current Free and Reduced lunch at about 56%. Currently there are 2 office/administrative support positions, 2.5 teachers and 8 classified employees. 
 
THE PROGRAM
Oak Run will also be starting a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) program that is embedded in an outdoor-environmental education context. Within this, we will be starting a paleo-technics (a.k.a. ancestral or wilderness survival skills) program, for which the 4th - 8th graders will be docents, leading field trips for other students. The MOSAIC Project social justice curriculum will be the foundation for peace education, and will be implemented school wide.
Oak Run has a flourishing organic gardening and Farm to Fork program, including chickens and a large greenhouse, which help feed all students and staff an organic lunch every day.
COMPENSATION AND CONTRACT 
The Board will offer an annual salary, based on expereince and number of work days, ranging from $60,000 -$80,000 plus health insurance and full participation in STRS/PERS. 
SELECTION CRITERIA 
The following criterion represents the standards for the evaluation of applications and the selection of the successful candidate: 
Professional Qualifications 
•Administrative Credential (Preferred) 
•Experience as a school superintendent/principal, site administrator or designee (Preferred) 
•K-8 level classroom teaching experience
•Experience in successfully writing, acquiring and administering grants
•Sound fiscal knowledge and administration of school district financing 
Professional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 
•Ability to provide effective, professional, and supportive staff leadership
•A strong desire to improve education 
•Ability to select, develop and retain outstanding staff members 
•Proven experience using research based methods to improve student learning. 
•Ability to evaluate educational methods and provide leadership in curriculum development. 
•Ability to apply state of the art computer technology to enhance school curriculum. 
•Ability to plan and administer school building programs and pursue modernization grants. 
•Knowledge and experience in personnel contract negotiations. 
•Proven ability and willingness to effectively communicate with a variety of individuals and groups. 
•Ability to facilitate harmony and trust among all members of the school communities. 
•Ability and willingness to identify and be involved with local communities, and be prepared to provide community leadership. 
•Ability to prepare, present, implement and expend a combined annual budget of approximately one million dollars. 
•Knowledge of and experience in attaining grants and other financial resources. 
•Knowledge of and ability to apply State and Federal legislation and district policies. 
•Thorough understanding and implementation of LCAP and LCFF

The School Board of Oak Run Elementary School District requests all candidates to follow the procedures listed below. Candidates seeking additional information should contact the Human Resource Services Department, see below. Each Applicant must submit:
1.Personal letter of application giving reasons for interest in the position and background as it relates to criteria and qualifications expressed by the School Board. 
2.Resume’, including background information, educational experience and achievements, and community and professional involvements. 
3.Three (3) letters of reference including up-to-date professional references regarding the candidate’s performance in previously held positions. Letters of reference must be current, no more than 2 years.
