Position Description
Position Title: Assistant Aquatics Director
Certification: CPR/AED/O2
Department: Community Education
Reports to: Aquatics Director
SUMMARY: The focus of the Assistant Aquatics Director is to provide a safe environment for and maximize the efficient use of the Oakestown School pool, as well as the surrounding areas. This role focuses on the development, promotion and support of quality community education and school programs in a caring environment.
TRAINING & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- American Red Cross “Lifeguard” certification, CPR & First Aid certification, CPO (Chemical Pool Operator) Certification, LGI (Lifeguard Instructor) and WSI (Water Safety Instruction) Certification.
- USA Swim Coach Certification.
- Knowledge of, experience in and training for pool operation and maintenance.
- Computer literate.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties as assigned)
- Supervise and schedule community swim team, water polo, swim lessons, community open swim, fitness classes and other Community Education aquatic programs.
- Coordinate use of facilities at both pools in cooperation with Community Education, physical education and athletic departments including computer & timing equipment housed at each pool.
- Coordinate registration for all aquatic sign-ups through the Community Education Office.
- Maintain records for Community Education on each Community Education program.
- Examine the swimming facilities for safety and health purposes and refer all concerns to the maintenance department.
- Provide leadership for the development of new programs and modification of existing programs to better meet the needs of the community for swimming activities.
- Report to the Community Ed Aquatic Coordinator all concerns relating to staffing, facility usage, maintenance difficulties, interdepartmental problems, etc.
- Assist in setting up and supervising swim meets.
- Assist with autism classes, swim lessons and water safety classes.
- Assist in promoting the Grandville swim program.
- Select and train new employees.
