What are the responsibilities and job description for the Barista/Server position at Oakhurst Inn?
The Oakhurst Café & Espresso Bar is hiring responsible, kind and engaging Barista-Servers! The Café prides itself on producing farm-to-table bites, top-notch espresso beverages and simple cocktails. The ideal candidate knows their way around basic mixed drinks and an espresso machine and has customer service and serving experience. Open/flexible availability on weekends and weekdays are required. Shifts are generally 6:30/7:30-3pm. Tips are pooled per shift.
BASIC FUNCTION
To ensure all guests are greeted and served in a friendly and courteous manner, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Knowledge, Training & Work Experience)
Prior BARISTA & BARTENDING experience highly preferred
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
To open and close, including signage, hours of operation, lighting of room and general set-up procedures.
Serve all food and beverage items in a timely manner
Follow "steps of service"
Maintain cleanliness of the dining room; including bussing, pre-bussing and setting tables, keeping the floors clean and maintaining overall neatness of the café
Greet guests with a smile and small talk, using names when possible
Inform the guest about any specials using proper verbiage
Attend to and anticipate guest needs
Familiarization with menu
Maintain knowledge of daily specials and/or daily drinks
Keep all service & storage areas up to date and organized with par levels stocked
Keep barista bar stocked with essentials
Complete daily and weekly side work as assigned
Basic admin
Cash handling
Attend regular staff meetings
Other duties as assigned by manager or supervisor
HOTEL SPECIFIC ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Respond to any reasonable task as assigned by manager
Aid guests in locating other areas of the hotel (walk them to destination if possible)
Familiarity with parking validation procedures
Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions; complete safety training and certifications
Follow all company policies and procedures; ensure clean uniform and professional appearance; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets
Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others; support the team to reach common goals; listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees
Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards; identify, recommend, develop and implement new ways to increase organizational efficiency, productivity, quality, safety and/or cost savings
ENVIRONMENT and POSITION ANALYSIS
Move, bend, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance. Stand or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift. Requires repetitive motion.
ATTIRE: apron (provided), non-slip and/or closed-toe/-heel shoes, hair pulled back. NO leisure/loungewear, tops that reveal the midriff, overly short pants or ripped/torn clothing.
