This position is General Funded.
General Summary
Performs para-professional and routine services for County health clinics, various outreach, conference and contractual agency sites and other locations as assigned. Performs such tasks as: assisting professional and para-professional staff involved in performing technical health screening tasks; conducting minor laboratory tests at clinics/conference sites; taking, interpreting, and reporting physical measurements and findings; and rescheduling missed clinic appointments. May assist in drafting and distributing health education and public health information materials, including any associated record keeping, scheduling orientation and staff development programs and materials. Attends selected staff/supervisory group meetings and in-service education programs. Assists professional staff in various routine licensing and regulatory functions, program planning and evaluation activities and the collection of information and preparation of reports, following established guidelines. Utilizes current Countywide and/or department specific software to complete assignments.
Required Minimum Qualifications
At the time of applications, applicants must:
1. Possess an Associate’s Degree or equivalent education from an accredited college or university with coursework in Journalism, English, Psychology, Sociology, Early Childhood Education or closely related areas; OR 2. Have Merit System status in any classification and be currently employed in the Health & Human Services Department; AND a. Have successfully completed at least the equivalent of one (1) year of college at an accredited college or university with coursework in Journalism, English, Psychology, Sociology, Early Childhood Education, or closely related areas; AND b. Have two (2) years of full-time work experience in the Oakland County Health & Human Services Department conducting or assisting in various para-professional health assignments and activities requiring considerable knowledge and a thorough understanding of the various elements involved.
Special Requirements
1. Employees of this class must submit to immunizations as required by the Health Division and submit to a tuberculin skin test or chest x-ray, at County expense, once a year.

Salary : $21 - $28
