Role Description
This is a full-time hybrid role for a Principal Planner - Transit located in Waterford, MI. Some work from home is acceptable. The Principal Planner - Transit Is responsible for developing and implementing transit services throughout Oakland County. In cooperation with transit providers and local jurisdictions, identifies transit needs and priorities. Informed by demographic data, economic development efforts and operational availability, charts mid-range transit priorities for Oakland County.
Documents mobility challenges and promotes transit solutions. This includes a full range of modes, such as advance reservation, microtransit, ADA paratransit, fixed route, and rapid transit. Acts as the technical lead on one or multiple County transit projects including software, fare management, vehicles, maintenance, and other elements that support operations, and optimizing coordination between providers. Collaborates extensively with transit service providers, other transportation agencies and other County departments, with an emphasis on implementing transit plans and programs.
Qualifications
- Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, and Transit System Design skills
- Project Management and Stakeholder Engagement experience
- Data Analysis and Research skills
- Policy Development and Implementation skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Transportation, Civil Engineering, Urban Planning GIS or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Four (4) years of Full time progressively responsible experience in public transit, county or regional planning or government agencies is a plus
Salary : $73,702 - $98,746
