Summary
The Maintenance Technician (Boilermaker Certified) provides specialized skill support to the Maintenance Department, ensuring the smooth operation of equipment and facilities within a cannabis cultivation and dispensary environment. This role involves routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs, with a strong emphasis on boiler systems, welding, and mechanical operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with customers, vendors, and co-workers through effective communication.
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled preventive maintenance, inspections, and service requests for equipment and systems.
- Work closely with Grow House teams, Facilities Maintenance, and Project Managers to address inspection and service needs.
- Conduct minor repairs in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting.
- Perform facility repairs, including doors, cabinets, furniture, flooring, ceilings, and wall protection.
- Change light bulbs, fixtures, ballasts, switches, receptacles, and reset circuit breakers.
- Patch and paint walls, repair roofing, blacktop, cement, masonry, and block structures.
- Handle emergency maintenance requests, including clogged drains, water leaks, power loss, and unsafe facility conditions.
- Maintain building security and compliance with all OSHA, GMP, FDA, state, and local regulations.
Boiler & Mechanical System Maintenance
- Install, inspect, and maintain boilers, pressure vessels, and mechanical systems.
- Perform boilermaker duties, including assembling, installing, and repairing boilers, tanks, and large vessels.
- Troubleshoot and repair boiler systems, pumps, motors, and HVAC units to ensure operational efficiency.
- Conduct welding, cutting, and metal fabrication as needed for system repairs and modifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics for mechanical systems.
- Test and inspect boilers and adhere to safety standards and regulatory compliance.
- Perform preventative maintenance to minimize equipment downtime and enhance longevity.
Emergency & Special Projects
- Respond to emergency maintenance calls and assist subcontractors when further repairs are necessary.
- Complete urgent and routine work orders, including equipment assembly and installation.
- Remove snow, de-ice grounds, and ensure facility safety during adverse weather conditions.
- Report facility safety and security issues to management.
- Assist with special projects as assigned by leadership.
- Responds to emergency calls, makes immediate repairs when necessary and assists subcontractor if further repairs are necessary.

Education and Experience
- Associates Degree plus 4-5 years’ experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Proven experience as a Maintenance Technician, with a focus on industrial and facility maintenance.
- Hands-on expertise with boiler systems, including installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
- Familiarity with boilermaker duties, such as assembling, installing, and repairing boilers, tanks, and other large vessels.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics related to boilers and mechanical systems.
- Experience with welding, cutting, and metal fabrication techniques commonly used in boilermaker tasks.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and regulatory compliance for boiler operation and maintenance preferred
- Ability to inspect and test boilers and related systems for proper functioning and adherence to safety standards.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with experience maintaining pumps, motors, and HVAC systems.
- Problem-solving skills and a commitment to preventative maintenance to minimize downtime.
- Ability to manage several tasks/projects concurrently and prioritize work effectively
