Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated MRI Technologist Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting our MRI Technologist with preparing patients for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures, as well as preforming and assisting in doing DEXA exams while prioritizing patient safety and comfort. The MRI Technologist Assistant will collaborate with the lead MRI Technician, radiologists and other medical professionals to provide accurate diagnostic evaluations and contribute to effective patient care.
Responsibilities
- Provides support for the delivery of MRI imaging procedures and DEXA exams
- Assists and Performs a variety of technical and patient care related duties enhancing the effective and efficient delivery of radiology services under the direct and indirect supervision of the registered professional technologist and Office Manager.

- Greets patients upon arrival to the Radiology department and consistently facilitates the patient’s department experience
- Upon receiving written orders, verifies completeness and notifies ordering physicians of any inaccuracies
- Supports the MRI Technologists in the planning and execution of routine imaging procedures meeting the standards of the department
- Prepares patients for basic examinations and diagnostic procedures according to department procedure
- Assesses the patient’s needs related to comfort, and provides support accordingly
- Provides direct patient care as needed to facilitate routine imaging services
- Safely assists in the transport and handling of all patients according to their needs
- Escorts the patient to and from the procedure room and assists as needed with patient arrival and departure from the department
- Maintains a clean and safe environment according to department procedures to help prevent and/ or control infection to provide for safety of patient, visitors and employees
- Promotes the team approach to providing Radiology services by positively interacting with the technical, support, and medical staff
- Observes and reports all patient concerns/ changes in condition to a registered technologist, nurse or physician immediately
- Assists in routine unit operations as directed/ needed to assure smooth communication and functioning of the unit
- Coordinates the outpatient and inpatient department workflow by maintaining communication between the department and patient floors, and ED
- Provides direct patient care by assisting with gowning and basic physical care to promote comfort

Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date
- Competency in the use of safe patient handling equipment within 30 days of hire date
- One (1) year of experience in a clinical setting

- Lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs and assist with patient transfer from table to table at times.
- Requires strength and or stamina, lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, standing and walking
- Pushing/pulling carts weighting up to 200 pounds
- Exposure to minimal radiation with in the national standards of occupational guidelines
- Ability to interact positively with patients, families, and members of the health care team
- Ability to prioritize and deal with a variety of situations simultaneously
- Demonstrate competency in the use of safe patient handling equipment
- Ability to multi- task in a busy setting
- Knowledge of radiology information systems
