Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Program Director for Youth and Family Initiatives (MSW) to join our team at Oakland Natives Give Back Fund, Inc. (ONGB). The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of working with children and families—providing advocacy, resource coordination, and comprehensive support services—to deliver interventions that promote well-being and positive outcomes for the communities we serve. In this role, you will supervise a minimum of four staff members and five MSW interns who each manage caseloads of 8–10 families, which includes conducting home visits, overseeing documentation, and tracking time. Additionally, you will lead our MSW Internship Program—recruiting interns, managing the program, and ensuring all required paperwork is properly completed. Candidates must have at least two years of post-MSW experience to be eligible to supervise social work interns.
Job Purpose
The Program Director oversees the day-to-day administration and operations of both new and ongoing programs, including creating, organizing, staffing, leading, and controlling program activities. You will provide strategic support in planning, budgeting, and evaluating all programming areas. A key responsibility is to ensure that programmatic goals align with the organization’s mission and that outcomes are effectively measured.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Program Operation
Manage Service Delivery: Ensure that programs operate in accordance with the organization’s mission and meet all operational requirements.
Supervise Staff: Lead a minimum of four staff members. Also supervise five MSW interns, each managing caseloads of 8–10 families, including conducting home visits, overseeing documentation, and time tracking. Provide regular feedback and performance evaluations.
MSW Internship Program: Recruit, onboard, and manage MSW interns, ensuring compliance with academic requirements. Oversee all related paperwork and provide ongoing mentorship, leveraging at least two years of post-MSW experience to supervise. Build and maintain relationships with local and online MSW program coordinators.
Budget & Work Plan: In collaboration with the CEO, Director of Program & Strategy (DPSO) and Chief Officer of Organizational Effectiveness (COOE), develop and manage annual budgets and work plans to achieve program goals and objectives.
Program Evaluation: Collaborate with COOE data and evaluation consultants to measure program impact, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategic changes based on findings.
Grant Writing and Reporting: Collaborate wih COOE and evaluation consultants to draft and submit grants and impact reports.
Partnership Building & Outreach
Stakeholder Engagement: Proactively build and manage partnerships with school districts, research institutions, community organizations, and government agencies to cultivate trust, mutual support, and resource sharing.
Recruitment Strategies: Develop and implement recruitment efforts across four programs, ensuring inclusive participation aligned with organizational goals.
Collaboration: Work closely with schools, district administrators, and other stakeholders to gain community support, gather input, and continuously refine programs.
Staff Development & Supervision
Team Leadership: Provide regular training, mentorship, and professional development opportunities. Recognize and encourage individual contributions to foster team cohesion.
Orientation & Training: Ensure that all staff and interns receive necessary orientation, including any required safety training, cultural competency, and policy compliance.
Performance Management: Implement human resources policies, conduct performance evaluations, address disciplinary matters, and maintain comprehensive personnel records in accordance with organizational standards.
Program Coordination & Compliance
Scheduling & Resource Allocation: Coordinate program calendars, including school-based initiatives, community events, and volunteer management, to ensure efficiency.
Incentive Distribution: Oversee and document the distribution of incentives to participants, adhering to program guidelines, ensuring transparency, and maintaining accountability.
Documentation & Confidentiality: Maintain comprehensive records of program activities, participant data, and performance metrics while adhering to confidentiality and compliance requirements.
Continuous Improvement & Reporting
Data Collection & Analysis: Gather participant and stakeholder feedback, integrate community engagement trends, and stay informed about relevant legislation to refine program activities.
Reporting: Prepare reports for partners, funders, and leadership. Monitor cash flow, manage project funds, and ensure financial reports and supporting documentation meet funder requirements.
Strategic Innovations: Incorporate emerging social work practices, child development frameworks, and educational strategies to enhance program quality and innovation.
And other duties assigned by the CEO.
Requirements
Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution.
Two years of post-MSW experience (required for supervising social work interns).
Proven experience in program management/coordination and mental health counseling, particularly serving children and families.
Familiarity with youth development frameworks or broader social service strategies.
Strong organizational and case coordination skills; ability to manage multiple programs concurrently.
Knowledge of child development, community engagement, and educational systems.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on stakeholder engagement.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and communities.
Experience with state, federal, and foundation grant/contract administration.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; must pass background screening and maintain required clearances.
