Serving approximately 800 students from grades 6-12, OSA is dedicated to fostering both artistic expression and academic excellence.
As a Special Education Instructional Aide, you will play a vital role in creating a supportive and engaging learning environment for our students. Working closely with case managers, general education teachers, and the Special Education team, you will provide academic and behavioral support to students with diverse needs, ensuring their success in an inclusive educational setting. This role involves a combination of classroom support and individualized attention to students, with an emphasis on collaboration across departments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide small-group instruction in general education and special education classrooms.
- Maintain accurate records and track data to support student progress.
- Implement behavior support plans and assist in managing classroom behavior.
- Perform clerical and administrative tasks as needed.
- Assist students with academic questions and reinforce learning concepts.
- Monitor appropriate use of technology and ensure adherence to school policies.
- Support student discipline and social-emotional development.
- Maintain a safe and orderly environment in alignment with school policies.
- Assist with other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education.
Education, Work Experience, and Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (preferred).
- Experience working with middle or high school students in roles such as teacher, instructional aide, or after-school program staff.
- General knowledge of academic subjects, including math, reading, science, social studies, grammar, and spelling.
- Strong computer skills and familiarity with educational technology.
Compensation and Benefits
- Compensation will be based on the OSA non-certificated salary scale ($19.12 - $35.55 per hour) and is commensurate with experience and credentials. OSA offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, commuter benefits, employee assistance program, and retirement plans. This is a 186-day position aligned with the school year calendar.
