What are the responsibilities and job description for the Campus Security position at Oakland Schools?

You’ll actively patrol our campuses, monitor security systems, and safeguard our buildings and property. As Campus Security, you’ll be the first line of defense against unauthorized visitors and potential threats, while promoting a positive and safe learning environment for all.
WHAT WE NEED:
- Patrols campus to maintain order, protect property, and ensure safety for students, staff, and visitors.
- Monitors campus buildings, grounds, parking lots, and vehicle activity, maintaining a log of registered cars.
- Supports the main office in the absence of the office assistant.
- Greets and assists visitors, preventing unauthorized access to buildings and loitering on campus.
- Reports property damage, theft, unauthorized individuals, and unusual occurrences to the Dean.
- Coordinates student photo IDs, takes and uploads photos into the student database.
- Assists with building sweeps for drills, lockdowns, tornadoes, and visits by drug dogs.
- Issues warnings for rule violations and addresses student misbehavior, reporting issues to counselors and the Dean.
- Escort students and support police or fire departments during emergencies.
- Orders parking passes supplies as needed, and serves as a backup for front office staff.
- Assists with school events and student activities.
- Maintains clinic organization, ensuring supplies are stocked and beds are clean.
- Unlocks office doors and activates security cameras at the start of each day.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU NEED:
- High school diploma or GED
- 1 year of experience working within a high school setting (staff and students)
- CPR Certified
- Experienced in operating and monitoring campus security cameras

SALARY DETAILS:
$18.27 - $21.18 hourly based on relevant prior work experience, with the potential to earn up to $22.80 after employment with Oakland Schools.
Non Exempt position / 10-month work year.
