About Oakland ACE Early College Oakland ACE (Accelerated College Experience) is a dynamic partnership between Oakland Schools and Oakland Community College that allows students to earn college credits—and potentially an associate degree—while still in high school. Through hands-on support, individualized advising, and a strong focus on career and college readiness, Oakland ACE empowers students to take the lead in their academic journey.
Position Overview As a Student Success Coordinator, you’ll lead and support students through in-person Seminar courses held at OCC campuses, working closely with our passionate team to deliver curriculum, build strong relationships, and help students develop the skills and confidence they need to thrive.
Key Responsibilities
• Facilitate in-person Seminar classes 1–2 days per week at OCC campuses (Auburn Hills, Orchard Ridge, or Royal Oak) and/or Oakland Schools locations (Main Campus or OSTC Southwest). Teaching hours are typically between 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
• Collaborate with fellow Early College Support Coordinators to plan and deliver engaging, student-centered curriculum.
• Lead weekly grade-level seminars focused on college and career readiness, employability skills, and portfolio development.
• Support students in completing required community service, job shadowing, internships, and clinical experiences.
• Provide in-person and virtual support (text, phone, email) to students in your Seminar classes.
• Monitor student progress, provide academic/social-emotional support, and connect students to resources as needed.
• Communicate regularly with OCC staff, school district partners, and the ACE Program Director.
• Maintain accurate student records using MiStar and write letters of recommendation as needed.
• Help identify and build key student support systems within the program.
Qualifications
• Master’s degree (Counseling preferred)
• At least 5 years of experience in high school or post-secondary counseling, or college/career advising (preferred)
• A passion for helping students succeed and a collaborative spirit!
