Position : Special Education (Emotional Impairment) Teacher - FTE 1.0
The successful candidate for this position will be an honest, approachable communicator, who is student-centered in his or her approach to classroom instruction.
Demonstrated success in establishing a positive teaching and learning climate, an eagerness to authentically engage students, the ability to establish standards for student accountability, and a proven track record in establishing high expectations for achievement are among the attributes the successful candidate shall possess.
Additional core competencies would include exceptional planning, decision and problem-solving skills, initiative and persistence, dependability, enthusiasm, and an individual that can work with others in a multidisciplinary team environment.
SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS :
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate with an Emotional Impairment Endorsement (SE).
- Highly Qualified according to NCLB standards in at least 1 core content area.
- The ability to implement and monitor IEP's and Behavior Intervention Plans.
- Experience and / or knowledge in conducting Functional Behavior Assessments
- The ability to develop trusting relationships, and manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
- The ability to assist other team members in building a positive culture for learning, while raising the standards of student growth.
- Knowledge and / or understanding in consistent use of data to monitor student growth, inform instruction and develop interventions.
- Experience and / or knowledge of Common Core Standards, Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support Systems, Technology Integration, and individualized programming options for students.
- Superior communication skills in writing and speaking with all levels of administration and staff.
- Applicants must be able to show proof of a satisfactory criminal background check as defined by state standards.
