West Bloomfield School District The Finance Supervisor provides leadership and is responsible for all aspects of the Financial Services Department, including supervision and evaluation of assigned staff, management and oversight of operations, grant accounting, posting to the general ledger, accounting for revenues, and providing for proper internal accounting procedures and controls.

EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Minimum of a bachelor's degree required, with a major in business, accounting or related preferred. Five years of experience in K-12 school district accounting may be substituted for a degree.
Minimum three years of experience in the Financial Services field with experience in school accounting and reporting experience preferred.
Certified Public Account credential preferred.
Experience with budget production and control preferred.
Possess strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize a multitude of tasks.
Demonstrated knowledge and implementation of relevant technology applications, including BusinessPlus software, preferred.
Experience supervising employees preferred.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Direct and manage the daily internal operations of the Financial Services Department, including communication, technology, records, workflow and other areas to ensure efficient delivery of services.

Prepare and analyze financial information for administrative level decision-making

Assist in managing the District budget and monitoring line items and reporting on significant variances.

Direct the accounting of various District funds such as student activities, athletics, food services, etc.

Supervise District cash flow, analyzing revenues and expenditures and recommending investment alternatives.

Complete the monthly reconciliation of all bank accounts.

Prepare cash disbursement reports for monthly Board of Education meetings.

Assist in the year-end closing process and preparation for annual audit.

Develop and present appropriate fiscal training programs for internal and external customers.

Prepare financial reports for Medicaid Administrative Outreach claims.

Ensure that District grant funds are spent in accordance with grant guidelines and requirements. Request grant funds through NexSys system, from Oakland Schools and any other granting agencies.

Collaborate with the Learning Services team to develop the annual Consolidated Application and direct the preparation of the Title I School Selection and Comparability reports.

Provide direction and consultation to District administrators and staff with respect to financial matters, including in the management of school / department budgets and financial procedures and processes.

Prepare and post annual transparency reporting documents.

Assign and direct the work of department employees, including supervision of their work, training, evaluating job performance, rewarding and disciplining, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

Attend Board of Education and other district meetings as directed.

Independently organize work, set priorities, meet deadlines, and follow up on assignments.

Maintain regular and reliable work-site attendance.

Communicate effectively in person, over the phone, and in writing.

Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.

Perform other duties as assigned.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

The salary range for this position is $97,571 to $107,700 and is negotiable, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Start date : as soon as possible.
