School Site Based Substitute A participant in the Substitute Teacher Incentive Plan (STIP) is a substitute teacher who serves at a specific school site every day for the entire period of the STIP contract and is required to report daily to an assignment of any grade level or subject area.
QUALIFICATIONS :
- This position requires at minimum a 30 day Substitute Permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC)
- Candidates can qualify to apply for this Permit if they have a Bachelor's degree
- All Candidates need to have a Certificate of Clearance on the CTC before being authorized to work. This link will lead to to fulfill this requirement.
Important Information Regarding the Basic Skills Requirement :
On June 29, , Governor Gavin Newsom signed a budget trailer bill, SB (Chap. 38, Statutes of ), that allows candidates to use their bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education (IHE) as demonstration of the basic skills requirement, effective immediately.

If your circumstances indicate you need this exam, you may already meet CBEST / Basic Skills through your SAT, ACT, coursework or another qualifying exam.

Requirements :
- Sign a temporary contract designed specifically for this purpose
- Participate in district and / or school site in-services as assigned
- Two current professional references, including from a Supervisor
