What are the responsibilities and job description for the Supervisor - Registration position at Oaklawn Hospital?
Job Summary: Supervise day-to-day operations of the registration department; training of personnel; assisting with scheduling and staffing needs of the department. Registration Supervisor will be responsible for resolving registration issues and following the chain of command to get them resolved. In the absence of the Director, responsible for maintaining staffing and handling registration processes and issues as they arise.
Essential Functions:
- Consistently performs using an outward mindset and puts forth exemplary effort in accomplishing his/her goals and objectives in a manner that helps others to achieve their goals and objectives.
- Ensures all new hires are set up for all the registration systems, App Bar, ACCUREG, FAX inbox OR, Registration group email, Mx MERCHANT, Athena, Global (Square 9), VOCERA, and any new implemented systems.
- Assists with training of current and new personnel, both within the Registration Department and other department staff who register patients in EMR.
- Ensures all registrars have full knowledge of their job expectations and meet all compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Assists in patient registration due to short staffing or patient volume in all registration areas following all required procedures and compliances.
- Maintains Registration systems to ensure they are working correctly and efficiently (ACCUREG, MX MERCHANT, NEMO-Q, Cerner, WACOMS, etc.)
- Point of Service collections monthly reporting to Revenue cycle as well as feedback to registrars
- Handles patient inquiries and/or complaints promptly and appropriately.
- Assists department Director as needed with employee evaluations, EMR Upgrades, payroll, staffing, and other projects as assigned.
Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Previous administrative assistant or supervisory experience preferred. Previous hospital registration and insurance verification preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, computer experience and computer skills. Possess excellent verbal communication, interpersonal, organizational, customer service, and critical thinking skills. Ability to problem solve, handle conflict and adapt to frequent change. Possess the ability to work with patients with varying degrees of illness.
Working Conditions: Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.
Physical Requirements: Constantly see/visual acuity, handle/grasp/feel, talk/hear. Frequently sit. Occasionally lift/carry 1 to 49 lbs., stoop/kneel/crouch, bend/twist, push/pull, walk, reach.
