OakLeaf Clinics - Eau Claire Medical Clinic has an exciting opportunity to join our growing team as a medication prior authorization representative. This is a casual, remote, hourly position; the schedule will vary between the hours of 8A to 5PM.
OakLeaf Clinics is dedicated to providing our patients with compassion, trust, and a lifetime of individualized care. Our healthcare team consists of physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, dietitians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and medical assistants working in concert with laboratory/imaging services to offer individualized care to the Chippewa Valley.
Position description
The representative will be responsible for and manage all aspects of the prior authorization process for medications in the clinic. Primarily obtaining insurance authorizations and verifying insurance benefits for patients requiring authorization for various medications.
Responsibilities
- Be responsible for all aspects of the medication prior authorization process
- Verify insurance benefits for patients that require authorizations for various medications
- Initiate authorization requests with insurance companies to obtain necessary information
- Contact physicians/departments for additional information as needed
- Maintain an approachable and positive attitude when interacting with all levels of personnel in a rapidly changing environment
- Execute special projects and other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Associate degree in health information management technology (preferred)
- Previous experience in a clinical setting or pharmacy technician experience (preferred)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Effective customer relation skills
- Ability to organize and interpret data
- Multi-task quickly and effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills
- Good judgment, tact, diplomacy, and ability to work effectively in a team environment
Salary: Starting at $20 per hour, commensurate with experience
