Overview
Oaks Indian Mission is seeking a full-time houseparent willing to live in a home with 5-8 boys, ages varying from 7 to 17. The ideal houseparent candidate fills a surrogate parent role by providing for the daily needs of the child. Houseparent must be able to pass a background check and have a valid driver’s licenses. The package includes room and board, meals, 100% paid Health and Dental Insurance, paid PTO and College Loan Forgiveness Program. We are a faith-based ministry that provides services to children.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and assist residents with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration.
- Create and maintain a structured environment that encourages routine and stability.
- Develop positive relationships with residents to promote trust and open communication.
- Monitor the health and safety of residents, addressing any concerns promptly.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure appropriate medical care is provided.
- Facilitate recreational activities that enhance social skills and community engagement.
- Maintain accurate records related to resident care, incidents, and progress notes.
- Assist with heavy lifting as needed for mobility support or during activities.

- Strong Leadership & Supervision – Ability to provide structure, guidance, and discipline in a way that fosters a safe, nurturing environment for children.
- Integrity & Honesty – Must be truthful and transparent in all communications, as dishonesty will not be tolerated.
- Excellent Communication & Teamwork – Must communicate effectively with the childcare manager and deputy director, administration, and fellow house parents to ensure clear expectations and consistency in care.
- Dependability & Commitment – Reliability in attendance and responsibilities is critical to ensure the well-being and stability of the children in care.
- Strong Organizational Skills – Ability to manage schedules, oversee daily routines, and ensure compliance with Oaks Indian Mission policies, including meal planning and inspections.
- Adaptability & Problem-Solving – Capable of handling unexpected situations while maintaining professionalism and calm.
- Collaboration with External Organizations – Must be able to coordinate with event hosts and community partners, ensuring proper communication about children’s participation.
